Wine Food Pairing – Austrian and special mushroom "juice"!

Ahhhh …. Wine Food Pairing …. my experiences through Austria!

A picture perfect autumn day, bright blue sky, the sun and snow on top of Schneeberg in the background. My husband and I decided to jump on our bikes and ride the local bike path to see where it leads. Our Maltese is Houdini, the course run by me earlier in my cart! We took the road Breitenau, a small village south of Vienna, and wind our way along SchwarzaRiver through small towns and Natschbach Loipersbach. Beautiful small villages with lots of European charm!

The Austrians take themselves too seriously …. Cycling There are several staging points along the path with benches, fountains and trash barrels. Most of the rooms are very comfortable and has a good Happy Morgan (Good day) that we passed.

We drive about 18 miles and enter the city slightly larger than Neunkirchen, where we find a cafe openGreet with their specialty board. Rather, the specific Austrian "juice" is now available. Sturm is the wine soon …… only in its "before" phase of fermentation, sparkling, white, and apparently high alcohol content, is a great thirst quencher! We obviously need to go! Can I drive a beautiful autumn day, but I take my own set of wine in all seriousness …. Work, work, work!

My husband assures bikes and go in the garden of the inn(CAFE). The tables are in a beautiful courtyard with flowers and trees ….. Each table is full barn located Ivy checked tablecloth and a candle for them …. SUPER! Europeans in humans and dogs always welcome guests to their facilities and Houdini was soon served with fresh water, hey, what happened to us, we were the ones who end up in the pedals do it all! Our waitress took our order in time, gives us menus and commented on what a good boy Houdini on a sit-down strikeBeware of his chair to table manners.

Autumn is the time of fungi in Austria, in fact, many of the guest house, which have special items in the menu …. decide, with mushroom special, Szeged goulash soup and a pumpkin to go ….. Yikes …. Believe that the eyes are bigger than our stomachs!

Pumpkin Cream Soup comes first …. garnish with fresh chopped chives, toasted pumpkin seeds and a drizzle of pumpkin seed oil, is simply delish! Our first storm launcherseems to have disappeared and we saw a new round …. Houdini is still happy with his bowl of water! Several customers at our table, stopping to chat and pet Houdini … And 'Show Stopper …. My husband is Austrian, so of course we speak German but my German is poor at best, and he speaks easily, I try to explain that Houdini and I only speak "English"!

Our main meal is my Lord and mushrooms (porcini) are hot …… have been dredged with bread crumbsand a crispy golden brown ….. fried mushrooms are meaty and moist …. this with a sour cream and chives spicy dipping sauce served ……. Yum! I also have a warm potato salad is delicious Austrian. My husband is a meat stew is a delicious mix with cabbage, potatoes and peppers …. Form of non-Austrian Hungarian goulash! Houdini and my husband think it's wonderful! Of course we need a storm to wash it all down! This is now Wine Food Pairinghis best ever! Pair wonderfully with these tower Sparkling tradtional Austrian courts.

It 'time to go, we are offered something to drink, "indigestion," but what we have managed our bikes all the way! This is a fantastic afternoon and another wonderful adventure in Wine Food Pairing! Cheers!
